MICKEY LEE LANE versus THE RATTLES – Shaggy Dog

On the Various Artists LP “Star-Club Scene ‘65” (Star-Club Records 158 018 STY9 the Rattles were featured with an unusual number. It was titled “Shaggy Dog”. The Song was credited to B. & M. Lane, and it was not from the usual repertoire for German bands. The song was completely unknown in Germany, so I still wonder where the Rattles got it from. “Shaggy Dog” had been released by MICKEY LEE LANE on Swan Records (Philadelphia) in 1964. It was written by Mickey Lane and his brother Bernie Lane. I wonder how that record had come to the ears of Achim Reichel et al. in Germany. My 7” is the Canadian issue on reo 8785X from 1964. The Rattles’ version has more Beat to it, but the original is great, too.
